    Privacy Policy

    Last updated: March 2026

PayMyself ("we," "us," or "our") operates the PayMyself web application at paymyself.app. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our application. Please read this policy carefully. By using PayMyself, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

    1. Information We Collect

    Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and a securely hashed version of your password. We never store your password in plain text.

    QuickBooks Integration Data

If you connect your QuickBooks account, we store OAuth tokens (access token and refresh token) to maintain your connection. When you use the calculator, we retrieve financial data from QuickBooks — including revenue, expenses, and profit figures — to perform tax and owner pay calculations. This financial data is used for real-time calculations and is not permanently stored on our servers beyond what is necessary to provide the service.

    Usage Data

We may collect basic usage information such as pages visited and features used to improve the application experience.

    2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

    • To provide and maintain the PayMyself service, including tax calculations and owner pay recommendations
    • To authenticate your account and manage your session
    • To retrieve your QuickBooks financial data for use in calculations
    • To improve and optimize the application
    • To communicate with you about service updates or issues

Your QuickBooks financial data is used solely for performing calculations within the app. We do not analyze, sell, or use your financial data for any purpose other than providing you with personalized tax and pay planning results.

    3. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We do not share your QuickBooks financial data with anyone. Your data may only be disclosed in the following limited circumstances:

    • Legal requirements: If required by law, subpoena, or legal process
    • Safety: To protect the rights, property, or safety of PayMyself, our users, or others
    • Service providers: We use trusted infrastructure providers (hosting, database) to operate the application. These providers do not have independent access to your data

    4. Cookies and Sessions

PayMyself uses session cookies to keep you logged in and to maintain your authenticated state. These cookies are essential for the application to function and are not used for tracking or advertising purposes. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

    5. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including:

    • Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms (scrypt) and never stored in plain text
    • QuickBooks OAuth tokens are stored securely in our database
    • All data transmission occurs over HTTPS
    • Database access is restricted and secured

While we strive to protect your data, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

    6. Data Retention

We retain your account information (email and password hash) for as long as your account is active. QuickBooks OAuth tokens are retained to maintain your connection and are deleted if you disconnect your QuickBooks account or delete your account. Financial data retrieved from QuickBooks is used for real-time calculations and is not stored long-term on our servers.

    7. Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your data:

    • Access: You can request information about the data we hold about you
    • Deletion: You can request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us
    • Disconnect: You can disconnect your QuickBooks account at any time, which will remove your stored OAuth tokens
    • Correction: You can update your account information at any time

    8. Children's Privacy

PayMyself is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 18, we will take steps to delete that information.

    9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the application after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
